YOUR BODY, YOUR TEACHER

Hello Friends!

As the owner of Bay Area Yoga Center for Health and Healing, I am passionate about helping people feel better. You are the only one who can heal you- I can help you figure out how to do this.

For over 40 years, I have been studying the disciplines of yoga, meditation and movement. During these many decades, I have sought out the best teachersĀ of yoga, pranayama, meditation, stillness, yoga therapy, Ayurveda, Yoga Nidra, and movement that I could find. I am a perpetual student who loves to learn and share my skills and abilities with my students. I never stop learning and continue to take courses, workshops and trainings annually.

I am a yoga teacher, meditation practitioner/leader and a yoga therapist. As a yoga therapist, I help people move and feel better so they live with less pain. I’d love to work with you!

Did you know that the Bay Area Yoga Studio is not only women-owned and women-led but also a family-owned business, making it a multigenerational studio as well? It all started with the late Denis “Junpo” Kelly, Kat’s older brother, who initiated and introduced this beautiful practice into our family’s lives! Kat, fueled by a thirst for learning, embraced the study of this ancient practice. It helped her immensely in overcoming her personal samskaras, so she decided to devote her life’s work to helping others through yoga. Over her 40 years of study, she has evolved tremendously.

In the past two years, Amy, Kat’s niece, has stepped in to help manage the studio. Amy has been immersed in yoga her entire life, playing in the various studio spaces as a child, observing her mother, Shawn, go through the yoga teacher training program offered by Kat, and developing her own yoga practice in her early 20s. She hasn’t stopped pursuing this practice since! Yoga has transformed and supported Amy in countless ways, leading her to study under Kat and obtain her 200-hour certification in 2018 and her 300-hour certification in 2022. Though initially seeking to deepen her personal practice, she fell in love with teaching and is passionate about helping others heal.

The expansion and development of the studio are a dream come true for Kat, one that she will pass on to her niece. It’s a dream that she will continue to share with family, friends, teachers, and students in the community, envisioning it for future generations to come!
